On the evening of October 2, 2025, multiple drone sightings near Munich Airport led to the suspension of flight operations. The first reports were received around 8:30 p.m., with drones observed near the airport's vicinity and on the grounds. This prompted authorities to close both runways for safety reasons, affecting 17 flights that were cancelled and 15 others that were diverted to alternative airports. Nearly 3,000 passengers were stranded overnight
